Intermediate Mountain Biking Course

This Intermediate Mountain Biking Course is designed for riders who have already mastered the basics and are ready to tackle more challenging trails with confidence, control, and efficiency.

Whether you’ve completed our Beginner Course, have six months to a year of trail experience, or feel comfortable on easy green trails but want to progress to blue trails, this program will sharpen your skills and expand your comfort zone.

Course Overview

Duration: 4 weeks (8 sessions total) – Two 2.5–3.5 hour sessions per week
Format: Small-group instruction (max 6–8 participants) led by experienced certified mountain bike coaches
Location: Progressive trail systems featuring green to blue trails, with optional black diamond challenges in later weeks
Skill Level: Intermediate – riders who can comfortably handle beginner trails, basic obstacles, and moderate climbs/descents
What You’ll Need: Your own mountain bike (hardtail or full-suspension preferred), helmet, and basic repair tools. Bike rental available upon request.

What You’ll Learn

Week 1: Refining Core Techniques

  • Advanced body positioning and weight shifting for better bike control
  • Efficient climbing on steeper gradients and technical sections
  • Precise cornering at speed (berms and flat turns)
  • Braking techniques for maintaining momentum and control
  • Trail reading and line choice on faster, more complex terrain

Week 2: Technical Skills & Obstacle Mastery

  • Riding over roots, rocks, and small drop-offs with confidence
  • Manual and front/rear wheel lifts
  • Advanced descending techniques and speed control
  • Pumping terrain for momentum (roller sections)
  • Introduction to small jumps and tabletops

Week 3: Flow, Fitness & Trail Strategy

  • Developing smooth, flowing riding style on blue trails
  • Building endurance for longer rides (10–20+ km)
  • Energy management and pacing on extended climbs
  • Advanced trail etiquette and group riding dynamics
  • Mental toughness and focus under fatigue

Week 4: Advanced Application & Adventure

  • Full trail rides combining technical sections, climbs, and descents
  • Dropper post usage and bike setup optimization
  • Basic trailside repairs and maintenance (tubeless tire repair, brake bleeding intro)
  • Introduction to more challenging features (optional drops, rock gardens)
  • Skills assessment, video analysis, and personalized improvement plan

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of a beginner mountain biking course OR equivalent experience
  • Comfortable riding green trails and basic singletrack
  • Able to ride 1–2 hours continuously with moderate climbs

Recommended Equipment:

  • Mountain bike (correct size) with functioning dropper post (highly recommended)
  • Helmet, knee/elbow pads, gloves
  • Hydration pack (2L+ capacity)
  • Multi-tool, spare tube, pump or CO2 inflator
  • Proper cycling attire and protective gear
